Information About The Post

The Norton Police Department Explorer Post #444 is a non-profit organization created by the Boy Scouts of America for youth between the ages of 14 and 21 and still enrolled in school or college.

The purpose of this organization is to give the youth an opportunity to better understand the police officer’s functions in law enforcement and to broaden the youth’s knowledge of basic procedures. The Norton Post was organized in 1986. The Post meets once a week for classroom training. Explorers assist on-duty officers at school functions and city events. They also compete against other posts in law enforcement competitions. The advisor of the post is Officer Bucky Culbertson, an 11 year veteran of the police department.

The Explorers periodically have fundraisers for their yearly expenses. The expenses consist of yearly re-charter fees through the Boy Scouts of America Sequoyah Council, uniforms, supplies, camping, competition fees and other expenses. The group sponsors non-risk fund raising projects.
