Regional Interceptor System

About the System

The Regional Interceptor System conveys wastewater from the member municipalities and other contributors to the Coeburn-Norton-Wise Regional Waste Water Treatment Authority (CNW) plant.

Predominately a gravity-flow system, the regional interceptor consists of over 30,000 linear feet of sewer lines. The majority of the regional system consists of 24-inch and 30-inch diameter lines.

Pump Stations

CNW also operates three pump stations and monitors 11 metering stations. Remote metering devices and a continuous phone loop permit the operator at the plant to receive information about the operational status of the pump stations as well as flow data from the major contributors.

Wastewater

Wastewater contributors include Coeburn, Norton, and Wise, and portions of Wise County. The system originates at the Wise County Landfill and Blackwood Industrial Park and terminates at the CNW treatment plant.
