On Thursday December 15, 2011 the City closed a loan/grant financing package with USDA-Rural Development for three sanitary sewer projects. The projects include replacement and upgrade of the Benges Branch II Sewer Interceptor Line which will be constructed by Little B Enterprises INC; the Guest River III Sewer Interceptor Line which will be constructed by Boring Contractors INC; and the East Park Avenue Sewer Interceptor Line which will be constructed by Thomas Construction Company INC. The total funding package from Rural Development is $ 5,186,000 of which $ 3,889,000 is grant funds and $ 1,297,000 is low interest loan funds. Construction is scheduled to begin in early 2012. These projects will follow the recently completed Benges Branch I and Guest Rivers I and II projects. Once completed, the City will have achieved a total replacement and upgrade of its two main sewer interceptor lines.
