Community Policy, and Management Board

Meetings

The board meets from 9-11 a.m. the fourth Monday of every month in the Department of Social Services' conference room.

Members

The board is made up of representatives from the local department of social services, Lonesome Pine Office on Youth, the Community Services Board, Wise County Court Services Unit representing the Department of Juvenile Justice, the local health department, and Norton City schools. These board members are appointed annually by Norton City Council. Other members appointed by Norton City Council on a four-year term basis are the sheriff and a parent representative. 

Functions

The purpose of the policy board is to:

  • Ensure proper utilization review of policies and procedures of the Family Assessment and Planning Team.
  • Verify and follow local and state policies regarding the Children's Services Act.
  • Approve or deny requested pool funds recommended by the Family Assessment and Planning Team.

The Community Policy and Management Board is authorized per Virginia Code §2.2-5200-5214.
